Winter Wonderland at A Gem of a Challenge

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well.  So glad that it is finally the weekend.  The christmas tree will be making its appearance on Sunday so a bit of a tidy up is in order today.  Still got lots of my christmas shopping to do but me and hubby are going to Birmingham for the weekend next week.  We are travelling down on Friday after work and coming back on Sunday.  The plan is to do the christmas shopping during the day on Saturday and then visit the christmas market in the evening to sample the mulled wines etc.  It would be so rude not to as we are there lol.  In the meantime I will be working on my christmas cards again this weekend.  Why don't I start a bit earlier in the year?

Anyway, today sees the start of a new challenge over at A Gem of a Challenge.  Our theme for this week is
Winter Wonderland

Our prize as always is

2 individual digi images
(NO SETS, PERSONALISED WATERMARKS OR SENTIMENT SETS)
of the winners choice from PINK GEM DESIGNS...

Here is my inspiration project for you.

I decided to go for a triple easel card using my Octagon template that I have had for about 3 years.  The super cute penguin images and the sentiment that I used can be found here.  I used the pre coloured images which do make for quick cards.  The backing paper and the stoppers for each part of the easel are from Papermania - again I have had these for about two years.  I kept the embellishments really simple using little bows, gems and buttons.
I think that this card will be given to one of my nephews for christmas.

Thanks for popping by and looking forward to seeing all your entries.  Just pop over to A Gem of a Challenge to enter your creation.  Don't forget to check out the fabulous creations from the rest of the design team - such talented crafters.

Last Minute Birthday Request

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well.  Only one more day at work and then it is the weekend.  I think my daughters are planning for the christmas tree to go up this weekend so looks like I will be busy on Sunday.

Today's card share is a quick one that I threw together at my daughter's request.  I got home from work today and she asked me if I had time to put together a 21st birthday card for tomorrow night.  I could probably have said no but like to oblige if I can.  This is what I came up with.  A bit different for me but I kinda like it.

For the topper I used two different shades of mulberry paper.  I tore the paper into squares and matted one on top of the other.  I then used a stencil I have for the numbers and used gems to create the 21.  This was then matted onto some white card and then some holographic mirror card.  I went around the edge of the white card with some doodling.  For embellishments I added a couple of flowers, a parchment butterfly and lots of little pears.  A sentiment in the bottom corner finished off the card.

Thanks for popping by and would love to know what you think.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well and enjoying your week.  Don't know about you but the weeks are just flying by a bit too quickly for me at the moment.  Still got loads of christmas work to do lol.

Anyway, today sees the start of a new challenge over at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges.  Our theme for this week is:
Frame a Female
We have two sponsors joining us this week
Sassy Studio - prize of 4 digi images to the winner
Delicious Doodles - prize of 4 digi images to the winner

I used an image from both of our sponsors to create my fun inspirational card this week.

I used a border image from Delicious Doodles and the fun image, Uhura Sassy from Sassy Studio.  As Uhura is known as a character in Star Trek I decided to do a birthday card with that in mind.  Both the frame and the sassy image are coloured in promarkers and fussy cut out.  I also added some pearls from the Hobby House to her hair.  For the background I used some paper from my stash box that had some stars on it.  Onto this I matted a piece of black card.  I then used some sparkle medium from Imagination Crafts and one of my stencils to add some glittery stars.  I finally added some cut out stars and a sentiment that I did on the computer.
Quite pleased with how this came out and as my hubby is a real trekkie he will probably get this for his birthday.  I think my hubby would love to beam her up lol.

Thanks for popping by and looking forward to seeing all your entries.  Just pop over to Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges to enter your creation.  Don't forget to check out the rest of the design team creations while you are there.

I Want That Car!!

Hi Folks
Hope you are well.
I have had quite a productive day in my crafty room working on christmas cards.  I did however have a little play with the Motor Mania CD from Kraftyhands and came up with this little number.

I used one of the card making sets for this card.  You get everything you need, and more, to create a great card.  I did add some glossy accents to the side window and the tyre and some stickles around the edge of the centre panel.

Thanks for popping by and would love to know what you think.  I appreciate your visits and love reading all your comments.

Gotta Love Christmas Trees

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well on this Saturday evening.  Went over to BJ Crafts this morning for their demo weekend.  Had a lovely chat with Sue and Linda who were there from Imagination Crafts.  A few little items jumped into my shopping basket while I was there but it was all stuff I really needed lol.  Anyway, thought I had better post this before we sit down to watch Doctor Who.

The image is a stamp from Imagination Crafts.  I stamped onto black glossy card using versamark and then dusted over with mica powders.  A good tip is to spray the image with cheap hairspray when completed to seal the mica powder so it doesn't rub off.  I mounted the topper onto a die cut shape.  You can't see them very well but I added some pearls from the Hobby House around the die cut as well as some distress ink.  The background papers were some freebie ones in a magazine from Craftwork Cards.  Made a messy bow from seam binding ribbon and also added a snowflake charm - also from The Hobby House.  The sentiment was also stamped onto black card and dusted over with mica powder.

Thanks for popping by and would love to know what you think.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

I would like to enter the following challenges:
Tuesday Morning Sketches - Use sketch

Shimmery Snowman

Hi Folks
Well, the weekend has arrived at last.  I have had a busy week at work but from next week I will only be working four days a week.  After working at my current job for 30 years I have decided that it is time for a bit more me time so I am going to be working part time and having Mondays off.  A lovely long weekend every week.  Hopefully I can start doing some of the little jobs at home that I never seem to have time to do.  I can also sneak in a bit more crafty time too lol.

My card share for today is another christmas card using a super stamp from Imagination Crafts.

I stamped the image onto black glossy card (also available from Imagination Crafts) using Versamark.  I then dusted over it with mica powders (from Imagination Crafts).  This gives a lovely shimmer to the image.  This was then matted onto silver mirror card.  The sentiment was also done in the same way using a sentiment stamp.  I also went around the edge of the sentiment with stickles.  The background papers were a freebie in a magazine which I matted onto silver mirror card.  Some silver glitter strips from my stash were added across the joins in the paper.  A little bow and some sparkly gems finished the card.

Thanks for popping by and hope you all have a good weekend.  I am going to BJ Crafts at Kings Lynn tomorrow.  They are having a demo weekend and Sue and Harvey from Imagination Crafts with be there along with Linda Simpson.  No doubt a few crafty items will jump into my basket lol.

Santa Stop Here

Hi Folks
Hope you are all okay.  Another couple of days and then it is the weekend.  Still got lots of christmas cards to do so will be spending some time in my crafty room.

Just wanted to pop by today and share this little card I have done using a super image from Pink Gem designs.  This one is called Santa Stop Here and is just so cute.

The card blank is a different shape for me and one I bought from the NEC from Cupcake Crafting.  I used a precoloured image and cut him out using a spellbinders die.  The edges of the die were inked with some distress ink.  The backing paper is years old and was in my christmas stash box.  For embellishements I added a little christmas tree, some punched snowflakes and a little snowflake charm.  Added a double bow at the top with a dazzler from the Hobby House.  I then went pearl mad and added lots of pearls which were also from the Hobby House.

Thanks for popping by and would love to know what you think.  I do read all your comments and appreciate your visits.

Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well.  It's Wednesday and time for a new challenge over at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges.

Anything Goes
I am sure we will have a high number of entries.

Our sponsors for this challenge are:
The Paper Shelter - prize of a $20 gift certificate
Floppy Latte - prize of a $10 gift certificate

The design team were all able to use images from our sponsors for this challenge.  I used a lovely Poinsettia Frame image from Floppy Latte.

After colouring the image with my promarkers I cut around the outside of the image.  I used gilding flakes to add some interest to the actual outer frame.  I then cut out the frame inner and stuck the frame over a sentiment topper from Papermania that I had in my stash.  The background paper was also in my stash of christmas papers - it was on its own as a single sheet so no idea when and where I got it lol.  A few sparkly gems finished the card.  Quite pleased with how this turned out, think it looks a bit vintage.

Thanks for popping by and looking forward to seeing all your entries.  Just pop over to Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges to enter.  Don't forget to check out the design team inspiration.

Winter Blues at The Crafting Cafe

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well and managing to stay warm.  As long as we don't see any of the white stuff I shall be happy.  It's okay if you are home in the warm when it snows but not so nice when you have to turn out to work.

Anyway, our challenge for this month over at The Crafting Cafe is
Winter Blues

Our sponsor for this challenge is the wonderful LEJ Designs who are offering the winner 4 free images of their choice.

Here is my inspiration project using a super image from our sponsor.

The cute snowman was coloured using promarkers and mounted onto blue cardstock.  I added some liquid pears around the image for added interest.  The blue background paper was in my stash and again, mounted onto blue cardstock.  I added a white panel which was embossed using my snowflakes embossing folder.  The snowflake is a spellbinders die and I glittered it up for added sparkle.  A couple of little trees and some ribbon across the bottom finished the card.

Thanks for popping by and hope you will enter the challenge.  You still have until the end of the month to enter.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

Vellum Inspiration at Unstampabelles Challenges

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well and enjoying your weekend.  I have been in my crafty room cracking on with christmas cards and DT work.  My daughters have now informed me of their requirements for christmas cards so lots of quick and easy designs will be in order lol.

This month I am guest designer over at Unstampabelles Challenges.  You can enter any creation you like but no stamping is allowed.  There is a great prize on offer so why not join in.  Our theme for this month is
Vellum
and you have until Friday 29th November to get your entry in.

Here is a little mid month inspiration for you.

I have used a new fan die from Signature Dies that I purchased at the NEC.  For the fan I die cut the filigree fan shape out of vellum six times.  The die cuts were then mounted onto a double sided sticky sheet that had been stuck onto white card.  I cut round the blades and then added glitter to make the fan sparkle.  After putting the fan together using a brad I stuck some lace round the top of the fan.  A bow and little flower finished this element of my card.  The background is also vellum which I have embossed and then attached to purple card using brads.  A large die cut sentiment finished the card together with some punched butterflies.

Looks like my daughter's boyfriend will be taking this card as it is his Mum's birthday in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for popping by and don't forget to pop over to Unstampabelles Challenges for more inspiration from the design team.  Thanks to Unstampabelles for letting me join you this month as guest designer.

Glitter and Sparkle
Don't forget that you can enter a project using any products at all but if you use Imagination Crafts products you could win a £40 voucher to spend in Imagination Crafts.

For the central panel I used a stencil and sparkle medium.  When it was dry I wrapped some ribbon around the bottom of the image and mounted onto white card.  A ribbon finished this part of the card.  For the background I used a little snowflake stamp from one of the Imagination Crafts christmas stamp sets.  I stamped it in Versamark and then heat embossed with silver embossing powder and then added a little gem to the centre of each snowflake.

Sparkly Christmas Trees

Hi Folks
Hope you are well on this Thursday evening.  I really think that it is getting quite chilly in the evenings now.  Still, it is November so to be expected.  At least I haven't had to scrape the ice off the car yet lol.

Tonight I want to share a christmas card that I have done using Imagination Crafts products.  I have used the fir trees stencil and background card together with Sparkle Medium.

I used the stencil and green sparkle medium on the fir tree background card.  When it was dry I matted onto green mirror card.  The tartan background paper is from Papermania and has also been matted onto green mirror card.  I added some christmas ribbon across the bottom of the card and a little snowman embellishment from my stash.  Some gems and a little snowflake finished the card.

Thanks for popping by and would love to know what you think.

Hi Folks

Add A Sentiment

We have two great sponsors for this challenge:
Fred She Said - prize of a $15 gift certificate

For my inspiration project I have used a cute image from Digi My World.

It has been matted onto kraft card. Some lovely pink organza ribbon and a bow was added across the centre.  A couple of sentiments from my stash and some snowflake embellishments finished the card.

Thanks for popping by and looking forward to seeing all your entries.  Just pop over to Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges to submit your entry.  Don't forget to check out the fabulous inspiration from the design team while you are there.

Double Joy

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well.  It was back to work for me today so I am now trying to play catch up with my blogging.  After checking my stock of christmas cards tonight I am going to be a busy girl the next few weeks. Every year I have a little panic that I am not going to get everything done but it all gets done in the end.  If not, I can always buy a few cards lol.

My card share for today was another order for my sister - birthday cards for twin boys.

I decided to go for something very generic as I was not sure whether the twin boys like sport, gaming etc.  The only thing I did know is that one of the twins normally wears blue and the other twin wears any colour other than blue.  The Happy Birthday stamp is from Papermania.  I stamped it onto white card and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I highlighted some of the letters and the balloons and left the rest of the wording white.  After going around the edges with distress ink I mounted onto blue coredinations.  The papers are also from Papermania.  Some punched corners, ribbon and card candi were my embellishments.

Here is the second card done in a different colour.

Thanks for popping by and would love to know what you think.  I love reading all  your comments and appreciate your visits.

Quick Catch Up and New Stash

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well.  Just popping by to say hello after my weekend away.  I spent Friday and Saturday at the NEC with my Mum.  We had a great time and I managed to increase my stash levels and get some items I have been looking for - see pictures below.  After the show on Saturday I drove to my sisters and returned home yesterday afternoon.  Got a day off today to recover lol.

As you know I am on the design team for Imagination Crafts Challenges and also Kraftyhands.  At the NEC I finally was able to meet Sue and Harvey from Imagination and Mike and Ian from Kraftyhands.  All lovely people who inspire me every day to improve my crafting.  I was also able to have a chat with Linda Simpson and Kath who are on the Imagination Crafts design team.  It was so nice to be able to finally meet up with blogging buddies and teamies.  Hopefully our paths will cross again soon.

Anyway, here are some photos of my new purchases.

Lots of Imagination Crafts products.  I do love their sparkle medium and stencils.  Also essentials such as cardstock, distress inks and double sided tape.

These are what I call my non planned purchases.  Card templates, embellishments etc and the one item I have been looking for for some time, a stickles holder.

Finally, some dies and embossing folders that I took a liking to.

Thanks for popping by and hope to be back later with a card.

Who's the Plumber?

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well.  I am getting quite excited now as only three more days at work for me this week.  On Friday I am heading to the NEC with my Mum.  We are spending Friday and Saturday at the NEC and on Saturday evening we are going to my Sister's for the night as she only lives about an hour from Birmingham.  I will then be heading home on Sunday.
My apologies if I don't get round to do a lot of commenting this week.  At the moment I am trying to get ahead of myself before the weekend.

Anyway, a quick birthday card to share with you tonight that I was asked to make.  I was told that the recipient of the card was a Man Utd fan and a plumber.  I wasn't really sure how I was going to combine the two so in the end I decided to concentrate on the plumbing but include the colour red to represent Man Utd.
Here is what I came up with.

I trawled the internet and downloaded this image of a plumber to make the topper.  The backing paper is from Papermania.  I used one of my stencils to emboss some silver mirror card to go across the centre of the card.  I added some red ribbon and some card candi that I shaped to look like screws.  While going through my stash I also found a little spanner (well, I think it is a spanner) which finished the card nicely.

Thankfully, the person who requested it was delighted with it.  Thanks for popping by and would love to know what you think.

Guest Designer at Unstampabelles Challenge

Hi Folks
For the month of September I was delighted to be selected as the design team favourite over at Unstampabelles Challenges and asked to be their guest designer for the month of November.  For anyone who is not familiar with Unstampabelles Challenges you can enter any papercraft project but no stamps - rubber or digi stamps - are allowed.  Why not have a go, it's a lot of fun.

Today sees the start of their new challenge and the theme of the challenge is:
Vellum

For full details of the challenge and to see the fab prize on offer just pop over to Unstampabelles Challenges.

Here is my inspiration project.

I decided to use some gold coloured vellum I had in my stash to make this little christmas cracker.  I did have a couple of templates for crackers but when I made this I couldn't find them.  So I just went with it and worked out some measurements and hoped for the best.  I managed to make this using one sheet of A4 vellum.  I kept the design quite simple doing some embossed snowflakes on the ends.  I added a preprinted sentiment and a couple of poinsettias for decoration.  A few gems finished the cracker.

Thanks for popping by and looking forward to seeing all your entries.  Just pop over to Unstampabelles Challenges to enter the challenge.  Don't forget to check out the rest of the design team creations.
